Diagnostic Mother and Baby

This is a special ultrasound scan, which is performed to reassure you that your baby is apparently normal. One in 55 babies is born with a major structural defect, many of which can be detected at 18-22 weeks’. During this scan which lasts about 30 minutes, the fetal organs are examined in a systematic way in accordance to guidelines by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Embryology (the study of how the baby forms) allows us to examine for common patterns of abnormalities.
